In the wake of the exposure of actor Jussie Smollett’s race-baiting hoax, it has now been revealed that Smollett has lied to the police before — and been convicted of it.

And every thinking American is asking: why didn’t the media report this before?

The year was 2007 and Smollett was pulled over for a DUI in Los Angeles, NBC Philadelphia reported.

The actor of the hit Fox show Empire, before the height of his fame, decided to lie to police and gave cops his younger brother’s name.

Smollett was charged with false impersonation, driving under the influence and driving without a license but the actor made a plea deal and pleaded no contest to providing false information.

The actor was given two years probation and his choice of a fine in the case, a spokesperson for the department told NBC News.

Smollett completed an alcohol education and treatment program in 2008, the year after the incident.

Of course, his prior conviction makes it far less likely a judge sentencing him for his current lies will be lenient. As 24News has reported, Smollett is facing between 3 and 10 years in prison for the state and federal charges he may be indicted for in the days to come.

The mainstream media is now facing major criticism for failing to inform the public of Smollett’s history of lying to law enforcement, in addition to unquestioningly reporting his “attack by White men in MAGA hats” claim as fact from January 29th to just last week, despite conservatives repeatedly pointing out discrepancies and holes in his story.

But despite his lies being exposed, and him begging forgiveness for the lives he put at risk and the hundreds of hours of police, FBI and Postal Service investigation that he wasted, Smollett has doubled down on his claims, angrily denouncing anyone who questions him through his attorneys and P.R. firm:

“As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with,” Smollett’s lawyers, Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson, told ABC News. “He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”

And rather than trying to talk sense into him to try and lessen his potential jail time, his family is backing up those lies 100%:

This is the media, the irresponsible media,” his sister Jurnee Smollett-Bell posted on Twitter, a quote attributed to Malcolm X. “It will make the criminal look like he’s the victim and make the victim look like he’s the criminal.”

Laughable, if it wasn’t so horrible and irresponsible, is the fact that his sister is attacking the very media that believed and protected Smollett’s hoax from the very beginning, and attacked anyone questioning it — such as Donald Trump Jr. as “conspiracy-mongers.”

This is not going to end well for “Team Jussie” — which includes the disgraceful, liberal media that, like with its smears of the Covington High School teens, is seeing its credibility going down the toilet.
