Trump’s USDA Makes BIG Changes To Michelle Obama’s Lunch Program – On Her Birthday!

President Trump’s USDA just took a huge hit to Michelle Obama’s horrific school lunch program that was wasting tons of food, as disgusted students threw them out.

Interestingly enough, they made the announcement on her 56th birthday. (I’m sure it was just a coincidence 😉 )

It was also the day that the US Department of Agriculture announced new rules regarding school lunches — rules that would roll back Obama’s signature policies promoting healthy lunches.

The new, Trump-era rules are aimed at reducing food waste, the USDA said in a press release. The proposal would make “it easier for schools to offer school lunch entrees for a la carte purchase,” allow “schools adjust fruit servings and making it simpler to offer meats/meat alternates,” and would allow schools to “offer more vegetable varieties.”

“Schools and school districts continue to tell us that there is still too much food waste and that more common-sense flexibility is needed to provide students nutritious and appetizing meals. We listened and now we’re getting to work,” said Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue said in a statement.

Lady Michelle’s school lunch edict, starting in 2014, was one of the most unpopular aspects of the Obama Administration — despite the media giving her a total pass on it.

Students erupted in resistance, starting the sarcastic hasgtag #ThanksMichelleObama to slam her for it:

Here are the new rules proposed by the USDA:

*Streamlining administrative review requirements based on past performance, decreasing burden for experienced operators so they can focus on their main mission—serving children.

*Increasing flexibility in the “vegetable subgroups” requirements for school lunches by giving schools flexibilities that help them increase vegetable consumption.

*Supporting a more customized breakfast program by allowing schools to adjust fruit servings to reduce waste and encourage innovative breakfast service methods, and making it simpler to offer meats or meat alternates.

*Providing more options for schools in applying age/grade groups for meal patterns to address schools’ unique situations and needs.

*Expanding the ability of schools to offer school lunch entrées for a la carte purchase, allowing them to reduce food waste and manage production more effectively.
